General Instructor Training

Course Goal:
This course will provide the information necessary to competently research, plan, prepare, present and evaluate a block of instruction in accordance with the systems approach.

Course Objectives:
  • Teach a 70 minute block of instruction.
  • Develop a lesson plan for the 70 minute block of instruction.
  • Construct a test appropriate to the 70 minute block of instruction.
  • Complete a written examination.
Note: Student is required to bring notebook on the first day of class. Notebooks may be purchased at the NCJA Bookstore: (910)525-4151. Also, students will need to bring a laptop to class each day. An application packet will be sent to the student to complete before class begins.

Note: Out of professional courtesy to others, if you register for a class and cannot attend, please let me know as soon as possible. We can then offer those on the stand-by list an opportunity to attend the class.

 In order to teach many of the courses regulated by the Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, you must complete this 99 hour course. An applicant worksheet and the Agreement for Enrollment, must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the class. This is needed to ensure the applicant meets the qualifications (4+ years of law enforcement experience, Microsoft Word & PowerPoint knowledge, etc.) necessary to enter in the class.
