Programs of Study
Criminal Investigation Certificate Program:
The Criminal Investigation Certificate Program offers essential courses designed
to enhance the effectiveness of the skills of the Criminal Investigators skills
in performing the multi-disciplined, multi-leveled task necessary to conduct a complex
comprehensive investigation.
Requirements:
- The potential student is required to make application into the Criminal Investigation
Certificate Program with the GTCC Continuing Education Program Director. Prior investigation
courses taken will be considered if the classes were completed within the previous
30 months at GTCC. Courses taken at other training facilities within NC will be
considered, as well, as determined on a case by case bases by GTCC Continuing Education
Program Director.
- Applicant MUST complete all required classes within 36 months of acceptance of application
into the program.
- Applicant is responsible for maintaining records of completed courses and will notify
the GTCC Continuing Education Program Director upon completion of the required courses
- Upon notification of completion by the applicant, GTCC Continuing Education Program
Director will confirm requirement have been met and a Certificate of Completion
will be presented to the applicant.
- Completion of this program requires 400 credit hours with a focus on investigative
courses.

Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Certificate Program:
The Traffic Enforcement and Investigation program offers essential courses designed to
enhance the effectiveness and skills of law enforcement personnel that have chosen to
dedicate their careers to traffic enforcement and motorist/pedestrian safety.
Requirements:
- The potential student is required to make application into the Traffic Enforcement
and Investigation Certificate Program with the GTCC Continuing Education Program
Director. Prior traffic enforcement courses taken will be considered if the classes
were completed within the previous 30 months at GTCC. Courses taken at other training
facilities within NC will be considered, as well, as determined on a case by case
bases by GTCC Continuing Education Program Director.
- Applicant MUST complete all required classes within 36 months of acceptance of
application into the program.
- Applicant is responsible for maintaining records of completed courses and will
notify the GTCC Continuing Education Program Director upon completion of the
required courses.
- Upon notification of completion by the applicant, GTCC Continuing Education

Completion will be presented to the applicant.
- Completion of this program requires 500 credit hours with a focus on TRAFFIC ENFORCMENT INVESTIGATION.
